Welcome

About Us:

Hills and Hollers Farm is Veteran owned. We are a United States Marine Corps family, originally from Tennessee. We have lived in several states but knew we would come home to Tennessee upon retirement. It was our dream to have a small farm and we are finally able to make that dream a reality.

Myotonic Goats

Myotonic goats are also known as fainting goats,"wooden leg goats, Tennessee fainting goats, stiff leg goats, and nervous goats" (National Geographic). When startled, the goats will appear to faint. Really, this is a genetic condition called myotonia congenita, "which causes their muscles to briefly stiffen after they are startled. Myotonia congenita is not unique to goats or livestock and can also affect human beings, though not as a response to fear. To say that the goats are fainting is a misnomer—the animals never actually lose consciousness" (National Geographic).

Hills and  Hollers Farm is a member of the Myotonic Goat Registry and  all of our Fainters are registered, or able to be registered, with the MGR. Please click the picture above to see our Fainters.

dairy goats

Our dairy goats include Nigerian Dwarfs and Miniature Nubians. Miniature Nubians are a cross between a standard Nubian and a Nigerian Dwarf. These result in a smaller goat that typically resembles a standard Nubian.

Hills and Hollers Farm is member of the American Dairy Goat Association.
